About the CMB Fraud Team
The CMB Fraud Team is here to help protect your accounts and monitor for suspicious activity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our team continually reviews account activity and takes action when something doesn't look right.
If the Fraud Team identifies unusual activity, they may:

Card transactions: Place a temporary restriction on your card to prevent further use.

Outgoing transfers: Hold a payment for up to 24 hours or place a temporary restriction on your account until they can speak with you or confirm the transaction.
In either case, the Fraud Team will contact you by phone or SMS.
What to expect if the Fraud Team contact you.
Please note that the information below is general guidance only. Scammers may use a technique known as spoofing to make a phone call or text message appear as though it has come from a legitimate number.
The Fraud Team will never ask you to provide sensitive information or transfer money to another bank or account. If something doesn't feel right, contact us directly.
Phone Calls
If the Fraud Team contacts you by phone, they will call from +61 2 8299 9534.
If you are ever unsure whether a call is genuine, you can hang up and contact the Fraud Team directly on 1300 705 750 or +61 2 8299 9534 if calling from overseas.
SMS Messages
If the Fraud Team contacts you by SMS, the message will come from one of the following numbers:

You may receive different text messages depending on the circumstances and the activity being reviewed.
Key things to look out for
The Fraud Team will:

Never ask you to provide sensitive information, including access codes, verification codes or your internet banking password.

Never include links in their text messages.

Only ask you to reply with a simple "Yes" or "No" response.

Sometimes ask you to call the Fraud Team on 1300 705 750 or +61 2 8299 9534 if calling from overseas.
If you're ever unsure about a phone call or text message claiming to be from the Fraud Team, stop the conversation and contact the team directly using the phone numbers above.

If you receive an email claiming to be from Central Murray Bank and suspect it may not be legitimate, please contact us immediately by:

Fraudulent SMS Messages
CMB may send SMS messages to members from time to time. These messages will be sent either:

In the name of CMB regarding:

One-time passcodes (SMS OTPs) for Internet Banking or the CMB App

An overdrawn account

Insurance relating to your loan

A returned direct debit

How to Identify a Genuine SMS
CMB will never:

Ask you to provide sensitive information, including access codes, verification codes, PINs, or your Internet Banking password.

Ask you to transfer money to another account to keep it safe.

Include a link in an SMS message, except in relation to an online loan application you have submitted.
If you receive a text message claiming to be from CMB and are unsure whether it is genuine, do not respond. Instead, contact us directly to verify the message.
